The Dung beetle can pull 1,000x its own body weight. There are so many of us that carry a lot of unnecessary weight on our shoulders to the point of almost being crushed. Just because someone couldn't see your worth though, doesn’t mean you don’t have any. Like the dung beetle, you can still shine, even in the shittiest of circumstances. I wants you to know that you have intrinsic value in this world too. Don't let anyone make you feel small and worthless. You are meant to be here and you’re allowed to pursue what matters most to YOU.
The originals of this series have been created with a combination of traditional Golden and Arteza acrylics as well as the relatively new Interference acrylics, also by Golden. The color-changing nature of these paints presented a challenge for the foundry, but the prints turned out great!
I was in the midst of my divorce after suffering years of emotional and mental abuse, with my body in an almost constant state of survival mode as it failed its way through six IVF's, two IUI's and a miscarriage for an (ex) husband that was not open to adoption and insisted on having a biological child, despite my age. Month after month of trying and after each disappointment, I was told it didn't work because her "energetic body was dirty" or I “wasn't trying hard enough”. My value, contributions and sacrifices were neither seen, nor appreciated. My ideas, suggestions and feelings were consistently squashed. For a long time, I didn’t realize my own wants and dreams were just as important as anyone else’s. I didn’t even KNOW what I wanted anymore because I was told what I should want. I fell into a dark pit of depression and was so tired of being looked at like an insect.
