Goliath Beetle - Open Edition

from $65.00

The ongoing Bejeweled series was created as a point of reflection during a very tumultuous and scary time in my life.

The Goliath beetle is a symbol of transformation, strength, and resilience. Did you know - You are so resilient! Whether you do it with help or alone, when you do the hard work you’re able to handle a lot more than you realize. And you're not alone. There is a whole league of us that have walked through the muddy path. I’m here to help you and remind you that you’ve got this. Don't let anyone make you feel small and worthless. You get to be LARGE and in charge of your own life.

The originals of this series have been created with a combination of traditional Golden and Arteza acrylics as well as the relatively new Interference acrylics, also by Golden. The color-changing nature of these paints presented a challenge for the foundry, but the prints turned out great!

I was in the midst of my divorce after suffering years of emotional and mental abuse when I made this series. My value, contributions and sacrifices were neither seen, nor appreciated. My ideas, suggestions and feelings were consistently squashed. For a long time, I didn’t realize my own wants and dreams were just as important as anyone else’s. I felt so incredibly small and insignificant. I fell into a dark pit of depression and was so tired of being looked at like an insect.
