The original of this piece was my very first chalk pastel done on Canson paper as a still-life portrait. Like my siren pieces, this was created in the classical technique of an underpainting, color layer and finally, local color. I specifically picked this bust because its meaning spoke to me on such a deep level and I’ve loved horses since childhood.
